Favre…cont.

Are we helping ourselves as a nation with this constant parade of Web revelations and indecent exposures of public figures? I don’t think so. There’s no one you can depend on, no one left to respect anymore.

Do I need to know Brett Favre is a complete moron? Does it affect my enjoyment of professional football? Is it any of my business?

 No.

Do kids need to know that Brett Favre is a jackass?  Is this knowledge going to do anything positive for them?

 No.

If we don’t halt this trend I fear we’re going to commit national suicide by TMI. Once you’ve drug down everybody, there won’t be anybody left to inspire or lead us.

Except for acts of high hypocrisy– like Gay-Bashing Preachers who turn out to be sweeties with call-boys, or Hall of Fame batters who turn out to be stuffed to the gills with Steroids, or Conservative Governors who tout “Family Values” and then turn out to be cheating with Venezuelan widows—no, we don’t need to know about every act of bad behavior every public figure may be guilty of.

So I for one believe—and hope—we’ll soon come to the “critical mass” point with all these exposures.  We Americans do have a knack for correcting our excesses, sooner or later.

I just hope the backlash and correction comes before the Web Tattlers get to someone we all still respect and trust like…like…like…
